The Academy Hotel 2007 London U.K.
AA Design were the interior designers for this refurbishment of The Academy Hotel in Bloomsbury, London. The refurbishment encompassed the main reception, meeting room, library, lounge and guest rooms.
As the hotel consists of multiple interconnected town houses, our objective was to increase the flow of space throughout the building. This was achieved through a unique carpet design, featuring an interweaving vine that leads one through the circulation paths.
Our design for the main reception also helps the flow of traffic and adds a general feeling of space, using curvaceous furniture of a modest size. An example is the bespoke-designed oval reception desk. Made with high quality mahogany veneers, oak lined drawers, antique tan hide and traditional brass handles, it also includes a number of other special features.
The furniture in the reception is also sympathetic to the modest size of the space, yet still retains a luxurious feel enhanced by the quality leather upholstery. The fresh green colour scheme enlivens the space while the low hung beaded pendant provides necessary intimacy.
